Community Leadership

At Meltzer Lippe, we are deeply committed to giving back to the communities we serve. Rooted in the community, Meltzer Lippe maintains longstanding relationships with the region’s law schools including scholarship programs.

Meltzer Lippe encourages, recognizes and supports the efforts of its employees to contribute to the community. The Meltzer Lippe Foundation, the charitable arm of the firm, supported by the firm’s partners, donates $100 to each employee’s charity of choice. By benefiting our employees’ charities, we are supporting our employees’ values and their lives outside of the office. For its 50th Anniversary in 2020, the firm donated $50,000 to Island Harvest. More recently, it matched employee dollar for dollar donations for Ukraine relief organizations as well as for Susan G. Komen® during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for the American Heart Association in support of American Heart Month.

While enthusiastic community give-back is a year-round activity for Meltzer Lippe, the holidays are a special time for the firm, with an outpouring of generosity that benefits families and individuals across Long Island. Annually, the firm partners with the Family and Children’s Association (FCA) to adopt an area family, fulfilling holiday wish lists and necessities identified by FCA including toys for infants and older children, warm winter clothing, various home essentials and gift cards for personal use.

Adopt a Family is followed by another longstanding Meltzer Lippe tradition with a give back component. The firm’s annual Children’s Holiday Party for staff and their families resumed after a COVID-19 imposed hiatus. The staff transformed an open area of office space in to an “Under the Sea” themed experience. Around 45 children attended with their families, each bearing an item to donate to the My Stuff Bags Foundation, which supports abused, neglected, abandoned, and homeless children of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions and economic backgrounds. The wide variety of donated items ranged from stuffed animals, infant toys and blankets to school supplies, stationery and books.

Committed to helping alleviate food insecurity in the Long Island community, Meltzer Lippe contributes to Island’s Harvest Annual Turkey Drive and holds an in-house food drive to benefit Long Island Cares. Friendly competition ensued, with a team from each floor of the Meltzer Lippe building challenging the floors to see who could donate the most food. The competition in 2023 was fierce in that more than 9,300 lbs. of food were donated.
