Meltzer Lippe Partner and Co-Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section – Domestic Arbitration Committee Loretta M. Gastwirth will moderate the program, “Domestic Arbitration Award Extras: Awarding Fees, Costs and Interest – They Can Really Add Up Fast” on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

This program on ‘Award Extras’ covers topics of requesting and awarding pre-judgment interest, attorneys’ fees, expert witness fees, arbitration fees and arbitrator compensation.

Award Extras can sometimes amount to a great portion of an award, not just in extra dollars, but in an Arbitrator’s consideration of whether these items can be properly awarded. The panel will discuss whether the parties are entitled to such relief, under what circumstances, the timing of the requests and the arbitrator’s ability or discretion to award them. This program is a must attend for arbitrators, advocates who appear in arbitration and counsel who draft arbitration clauses.
