Bio

Preston S. Scherr is an Associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. He represents individuals and businesses in complex commercial disputes before trial and appellate courts, as well as in arbitral forums. His practice spans all stages of litigation, from initial pleadings and discovery through trial and appeal.

Preston has secured favorable outcomes for clients across a range of commercial matters. His experience includes representing established companies, start-ups, investment firms, corporate borrowers, multiplatinum recording artists, and individuals in disputes involving breach of contract, business torts, and commercial financing, both in court and in arbitration proceedings before JAMS and the American Arbitration Association (AAA).

Before joining Meltzer Lippe, Preston practiced at an Am Law 100 firm, where he handled commercial litigation and appellate matters across diverse industries.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Corporation Law and as a research assistant to Professor Thomas P. Gallanis, Executive Director of the Uniform Law Commission’s Joint Editorial Board for Uniform Trust and Estate Acts. During law school, he also externed for the Honorable Joe Billy McDade of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Preston received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University. While at Fordham, he worked as a paralegal and was a member of the defense trial team in a case CNBC described as “the biggest art fraud in modern U.S. history.”
