The Wall Street Journal: More Americans Are Aging Alone. One Woman Told Us What It’s Like.

As family structures continue to evolve, more Americans are finding themselves navigating the challenges of aging without a spouse, partner, or children to rely on.

A recent Wall Street Journal article by Veronica Dagher examines the growing population of “solo agers” and the important financial, healthcare, and estate planning decisions they face.

The article quoted Avi Z. Kestenbaum, Partner and Co-Chair of the Trusts & Estates Practice at Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP.

“Leaving assets to nonrelatives often requires planning with trusts. This might help to prevent distant biological relatives from contesting the wishes of the deceased,” said Avi Kestenbaum.
