Nicholas P. Melito is Counsel to the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. Nicholas’s practice focuses on representing employers in disputes in state and federal court, including wage and hour, discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation claims. Nicholas has extensive litigation experience defending against individual, class, and collective actions regarding wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York Labor Law. Nicholas also works with clients across a diverse group of industries regarding employment decisions and compliance with applicable regulations.
Prior to joining the firm, Nicholas spent the past six years at a Manhattan based law firm representing employees in employment-related litigation, with a particular focus on class and collective actions regarding wage and hour claims in the hospitality industry. This prior experience provides Nicholas with a unique perspective to effectively represent employers against various employment claims.
Nicholas earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Molloy College and his Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School. While in law school, Nicholas was a member of the Center for Business and Financial Law and the Labor & Employment Law Society. Nicholas is admitted to practice in the State of New York, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
